Boys Varsity Track, Girls Varsity Track · Bay Huckers and Chuckers Dominate Throwing Events v. Fort

With the sun shining down and not a cloud in a perfect blue sky, the Hudson’s Bay throwers had an exceptionally strong showing against their arch rival, The Fort Vancouver Trappers. 22 new personal records were set between the guys and ladies in the shot put, discus and javelin!

It was a huge day for Senior, Christopher (Montana) Martin of Hudson’s Bay with a new PR in each of the 3 throwing events. Montana currently holds the number 1 spot in league standings for the discus with a 27ft improvement over his previous record! A 5ft improvement in the shot put has Montana in 3rd place for league. He placed 2nd in the javelin in his first attempt at throwing it.

The team welcomed Sophomore, Zaphanaius Tuiaana to the throwing family and saw him take 2nd and 3rd in the shot put and discus in his throwing debut. Senior Lucas Tomblison once again dominated the javelin throw, throwing over 50ft further than the 2nd place competitor. He currently holds the number 2 spot in league standings. Lucas rounded out the sweep by Hudson’s Bay in the discus, taking 3rd. Senior JP LeGuyader took the 2nd place spot in the discus, once again giving the Eagles the sweep. He also had a PR in the shot put.

Senior Payton Isaacson, Junior Kayden Gonzales and Sophomores David Hoang and Gavin Nelson all saw improvements in the shot put. Payton, David and newcomer Senior, Jonathan Lorey all had PR throws in the discus. Junior Daniel Halicho and Gavin Nelson set new PR’s in the javelin to round out the domination for the Huckers and Chuckers.

On the ladies side, Senior Anastacia (Stacia) Mikaele and Sophomore Emma Mady had an excellent showing, with Stacia PRing in all three events and Emma setting a new PR in 2 out of the 3. Stacia took 1st in both shot put and discus and 3rd in javelin. Emma took second in all three events. Junior Alyssa Fleischmann narrowly missed helping the Eagles get the sweep in her first attempt at throwing the shot put, taking 4th. Junior Mae Carse rounded out the Lady Eagle throwers with a 4th place finish in javelin.

Throwing coaches, Josh and Jamie Gonzales had this to say, “We are so proud of our throwers and the work they are putting in to improve!”
